History of CBM
The Institute of Management was conceived as a separate degree-granting unit of the West Visayas State University and approved and authorized under Board Resolution No. 27, series of 2007, dated March 8, 2007. Then, under its umbrella are the Bachelor in Hotel and Restaurant Management program, a transfer from the College of Education, and the Bachelor of Cooperatives Management program from the College of Arts and Sciences.
In 2010, the Institute of Management became the College of Business & Management. Currently, the College of Business and Management has six (6) degree programs. Of these, two (2) are graduate programs, and four (4) are undergraduate programs. Specifically, the college offers Master in Hospitality Management, Master in Business Management, Bachelor of Science in Business Administration majors in Operations Management and Financial Management, Bachelor of Science in Cooperatives Management, Bachelor of Science in Tourism Management, and Bachelor of Science in Hospitality Management.
The goals of the College of Business and Management are to:
- assure quality instruction and industry-driven curriculum;
- emphasize the need for research in business and industry and allied disciplines, and disseminate products of research in actual instruction;
- innovate, collaborate, and share expertise; and
- achieve relentless excellence.
WVSU HISTORY
West Visayas State University (WVSU), colloquially referred to as “West” by locals, is a public normal research university located in La Paz, Iloilo City, in the Western Visayas Region of the Philippines. It was established in 1924 as Iloilo Normal School under the tutelage of the Thomasites but dates back to its founding in 1902 as part of the Philippine normal school system with Iloilo National High School, established by the American colonial government.
